'NPCL & BHEL have proven capabilities in global market'

Bhopal, Febuary 19 (Pervez Bari): Dr. S K Jain, CMD, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd., Dr. P C Basu, Director, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board of India, Thakur, Executive Director, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. and other senior executives on Friday visited Swarn Jayanti Block, Stream Turbine Block and UHV Transformer Block of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, (BHEL), Bhopal Unit and reviewed the facilities & latest technology available with Bhopal Unit.
M K Dube, Executive Director, BHEL Bhopal Unit, S K Seth, GM (Thermal), S R Prasad, GM(EM) accompanied the team during visit. Later on, they discussed various issues related to Atomic Power generation in the country with Executive Director and other Senior Executives in a meeting. Dheeman Sen, GM (IT & PDX) highlighted the capabilities of BHEL Bhopal Unit and those especially in Nuclear field.
While appreciating the capabilities & progress of BHEL Bhopal Unit, Dr. Jain said that Indian PSUs like Nuclear Power Corporation and BHEL have proven their capabilities in the International market through their quality products and are at par with any Multinational company today. He further said that Nuclear Power Corporation has maintained very good relations with BHEL and now there are ample opportunities for both the companies to work together in the field of Atomic Energy. While appreciating the quality of BHEL products, he said that there is definitely a big share of BHEL products in helping Nuclear Power Corporation Units achieve 95 per cent PLF.
Dr. Jain indicated that capacity expansion along with establishment of new units will be started soon in the field of Atomic Electricity production. Reactors and Turbines up to 700 Mega Watt and above along with Transformers and other Electrical Equipments will be required for the same and BHEL will have to play a vital role in synchronizing these units in time.
While discussing the good relationship between Nuclear Power Corporation and BHEL, Dube said that earlier the supply of Nuclear Turbines and other equipments were made by BHEL which are running in an excellent condition with full load even after 30-35 years.
