With a view to provide education as per CBSE course to tribal students in the state, 6 more Eklavya Residential Schools in tribal areas have been sanctioned by the Central Government. Rs. 72 crore has been allocated to the tribal welfare department for these schools. These new schools will start functioning from the next academic year.12 Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools are already running in the state.
Tribal Welfare Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah has directed to complete the construction of newly sanctioned residential school buildings with quality and within the time limit. The new six residential schools sanctioned will be opened in Sondwa in Alirajpur district, in Khalwa development block of Khandwa district, in Suhagpur development block headquarters of Shahdol district, in Village Ukwa of Baihar Development Block of Balaghat district, in Mordudiya village of Ranapur development block of Jhabua district and in Village Singardeep of Bichhua Development Block of Chhindwara district.
Maximum limit of students has been increased from 420 to 480 in the new residential schools. The students studying in these schools will be given facilities to the tune of Rs 42 thousand per annum per student. Rs 6 crore has been made available as first installment for construction of buildings for the six sanctioned residential schools. Land has already been selected for these schools.
12 Eklavya Adarsh Schools are already running in the state. These schools are situated at Thandla in Jhabua district, Kukshi in Dhar district, Badwani, Sailana in Ratlam district, Shahpur in Betul district, Ghansour in Seoni district, Anuppur district, Sijhoura in Mandla district, Junnardeo in Chhindwara district, Pali in Umaria district, Dindori and Tansar in Sidhi district. In these schools 3750 students are studying under C.B.S.E. course. Along with academic education the students in these schools are given facilities of computer education, personality development training, meals, uniform, books, stationery, and library free of cost.
After passing Class XII from these schools the students have taken admission in excellent institutions for higher education.
