People are Gods to peoples representatives: CM

Bhopal, Aug 7:
Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the people are Gods to their representatives. The people always watch the work and behaviour of their representatives. Therefore, he said the attitude and behaviour of the Mayor and corporators towards the people before the election should continue after winning. Because, he said the image of those who change attitude after election will fall from the eyes of the people and Lord Shiva. Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said this while addressing the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected Mayor and corporators at Ujjain today.
The Chief Minister said that the Mayor is the first servant of the city. The Mayor should keep the love, affection and trust showered on him by the people. He said that the Mayor should serve good people while take strict action against the bad ones so that people do not lose trust in him. Shri Chouhan assured that he will always be with the newly elected Mayor in this regard. He said that he will maintain the trust reposed on him by the people of Ujjain throughout his life. Shri Chouhan advised the newly elected corporators to work like public servants. If you become contractors, instead of people's servants, they will have to face the third eye of Lord Shiva. He assured the people present on the occasion that there will be no shortage of funds for development works of Ujjain.
Newly elected Mayor Shri Rameshwar Akhand said that people treat the Mayor as the first citizen of the city. But I am the first servant of this city, he declared. He said that 'Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan is like Lord Rama to me. Whatever he orders from Ayodhya (Bhopal), I will follow like Bharat'. This is not my win in Ujjain. It is the result of the welfare programmes for the poor by the chief minister and people's trust in BJP Government. This is the win of the chief minister who had given respect and right to the poor. In the whole country only chief minister of Madhya Pradesh invites the poor to his house, hear their woes and help them, feed them and is always ready to help them.

For this purpose, if some buildings have to be demolished, the owners should be taken into confidence and proper compensation should be paid. Separate budget provision will be made for paying compensation, he said.

Time limit, responsibility for government work
During the oath taking ceremony the Chief Minister told the people that he will not allow to wasting their time and money. For the first time in the world we have ensured responsibility of the public servant through enacting a law, Public Services Guarantee Act. Now at the time of giving application the applicant will know within how many days his work will be done and who will be responsible for his work. At the time of giving application his stop watch will start and if the work is not completed within the time limit, the responsible employee will have to pay penalty at the rate of Rs 250 per day. The penalty will keep growing every day. The penalty will be deducted from the salary of the employee and will be paid to the applicant whose work was delayed.

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced preparations from today for the Simhasth-2016 to be held at Ujjain. We have 6 years' time now. We can start preparations from today to provide world-level facilities. Because, this is related to the pride and prestige of Ujjain. A work plan for Simhastha-2016 is getting prepared by the Ahmedabad University. Rs. 1 crore has been provided for this, he said. For preparations of Simhasth-2016 master plan of Ujjain will be made taking into confidence of the people of the city.

Commonwealth Game is Evidence of Slavery
Referring to the complaints pertaining to Commonwealth Games Shri Chouhan said that 'Commonwealth Games has become Games of Scams now'. Every newspaper and news channels tell us about negligent attitude and wasting of hundreds of crores of rupees on the name of Commonwealth Games. Shri Chouhan said that earlier this was a game of British Empire and was held in those countries which were under British rule. Now we are a free, independent and democratic country. Therefore we should be out of the Commonwealth. But, he said, I will not say that Commonwealth Games should not be held. The Commonwealth Game should be held this time in Delhi because this is question of our respect and pride.
During the oath taking ceremony the Collector administered oath first to the newly elected Mayor Shri Rameshwar Akhand on the name of god and respect towards constitution, work for integrity and unity of the country. After that the corporators were administered oath in a group of 15.
