These felines, between age group of 5-6, lost their mother few days after their birth in Kanha Tiger Reserve and have been reared in an enclosure there, Murthy said. Two tigresses - one feline from Bandhavgarh and another from Kanha were translocated in Panna on March 6 and 9 last year respectively. Besides, a tiger from Pench tiger reserve was also released in the wild of Panna in November last year.

One of the translocated tigresses in Panna gave birth to four cubs in May, but later two of them were found dead. Forest officials claimed that the cubs might have been killed by the tiger. As per the plan to revive big cat population, four felines and two tigers in all are to be translocated in Panna.
